Program Suport for Fair Trade

This work has been created as a support for non-profit NGO Society for Fair Trade and Development Education. It's aimed to build a base of an information system, that will be able to integrate and simplify the organisation's running. In the actual version it's foremost about stock control system unifying the management of commodities on several affiliates and synchronization of book entries for accounting purposal. To make the further development easier, several modular components are introduced. The system is based on technologies of PHP and MySQL with additional functionality of JavaScript which is, for the sake of widest compatibility possible, minimalised and substituted with alternative solutions if possible.

Skýbová, T. Significant aspects of sustainable coffee and recommendations for cafés. Bachelor thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2023. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to propose recommendations for cafes that will lead to the expansion of awareness and marketability of sustainable coffee. The literature search will introduce coffee as a commodity, sustainable coffee production and the various organisations that promote a sustainable approach to coffee. The information will be used in the results section. In the empirical part, the coffee sector will first be analysed. The main research of the thesis consists of semi-structured interviews, which are complemented by a questionnaire survey. Finally, various recommendations will be proposed to promote sustainable coffee awareness and marketability. These recommendations will be financially backed.
The Fairtrade awareness at the Faculty of Economics, University of South Bohemia

The work focuses on identifying knowledge and awareness of Fairtrade among students and employees of the Faculty of Economics at the University of South Bohemia, where Fairtrade supports producers and farmers from the poorest countries in the world mainly through higher purchase prices, long-term contracts, and overall good working conditions. The aim of the work is to obtain information from respondents, either in general or in connection with the Faculty of Economics, which is the first Fairtrade faculty in the Czech Republic, and subsequently provide proposals and recommendations that could lead to increased awareness of Fairtrade in academic circles and thus support producers from developing countries in a certain way.
Consumers'awareness of the Fair Trade

The bachelor thesis focuses on the awareness of the Fairtrade among consumers. The theoretical part describes the definition, principles, brand standards, history and other important information related to the Fairtrade, including the consumer himself. In the bachelor thesis it was important to explain marketing research, which is applied in the practical part. With the help of a questionnaire, the second part of the bachelor's thesis processes the results obtained and evaluates four compiled hypotheses based on the information obtained. The questionnaire consisted of 12 questions with both mandatory and optional answers. At the end of the work, several recommendations are proposed on how to increase and improve the awareness of the Fairtrade among consumers.
The awareness of fairtrade products in the selected retail chain

The bachelor thesis deals with Fairtrade products in a specific retail chain. The main goal is a survey on the awareness of Fairtrade products in the retail chain Kaufland. The work discusses the importance of the Fairtrade concept, the recognition of Fairtrade products and the reasons for the spread among consumer awareness. It is also focused on marketing research. The data are obtained through a questionnaire survey which reveals the behaviour of shoppers of Fairtrade products in the retail chain Kaufland. Based on the results, possible recommendations are proposed on how to make the products visible and raise awareness among consumers.
An awareness of Fairtrade at the University of South Bohemia

The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to identify Fairtrade based on a quantitative research. This thesis illustrates the level of awareness of Fairtrade at the University of South Bohemia with the help of a questionnaire survey. The study was performed by the employees and students, with the purpose of analysing knowledge about Fair Trade history, Fair Trade issues, fairtrade products, key Fairtrade organizations and the process of Fairtrade certification. Finally, these new findings motivate some people to buy fairtrade products and, consequently, to assist the developing countries.
Analysis of international trade with choose commodity

The aim of the diploma thesis is to analyze the current situation in the international coffee trade. A questionnaire survey will be designed and conducted among local importers and coffee processors - roasters. This will be followed by an analysis of questionnaires, testing of selected hypotheses in the statistical program and drawing conclusions. The theoretical part of the diploma thesis is focused on the overall view of coffee trading. The work presents the commodity coffee and its types. Furthermore, the theoretical part focuses on trading in coffee as a commodity and in selected coffee and their subsequent processing options. Organizations dealing with coffee issues, major export and import countries are introduced. It also includes a look at the development of the price of coffee. Furthermore, the theoretical part approaches the issue of Fairtrade. Last but not least, the theoretical part focuses on the ecological sustainability of the international coffee trade. The practical part of the diploma thesis deals with the import of coffee to the Czech Republic and the export of coffee from the Czech Republic. The work also focuses on the use of the TARIC application to simulate the import and export of coffee. Based on the information obtained, a questionnaire is subsequently created, which will be distributed among importers of unroasted coffee to the Czech Republic - roasters. The next part of the practical work is the analysis of questionnaires, testing of selected hypotheses in the statistical program using Fisher's exact test and drawing conclusions.
The brand perception of Fairtrade at the Faculty of Economics, University of South Bohemia

The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to find out how students and employees of the Faculty of Economics of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice perceive the Fairtrade brand. The work is focused on information about brand, Fairtrade and its history. It is also focused on methods of marketing research and its function. This work includes questionnaire survey which discoveres the perception of Fairtrade by students and employees of the Faculty of Economics.

The dissertation deals mainly with the issue of Fairtrade and process modeling according to the rules of FLOCERT. In the Czech Republic, we have been encountering fairtrade production and fairtrade products for several years. Products of more and more new brands are entering the market, and questions about what each brand and logo represent and which products are fair and which are not. The work therefore deals with a specific type of certification, which is Fairtrade? based on process modeling to obtain this certification.
Fairtrade Coffee Production in Tanzania

Coffee is one of the most consumed beverages in the world and its consumption is still increasing. The majority of coffee is produced by smallholders from countries of so called "global South". Their livelihoods are influenced by price fluctuations at the world commodity markets. Fairtrade system strives for improving their trade and living conditions. The primary aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe the production of coffee on Fairtrade terms in Tanzania. Main research questions focus on the economic and social impacts of Fairtrade on the livelihoods of smallholders, the process of joining the system and meeting Fairtrade standards. Secondary research questions are the perception of climate change, its impacts on the coffee production and the role of Fairtrade in adapting to these changes. The analysis consists of 12 semi-structured interviews conducted with smallholders from Kagera Cooperative Union (KCU) and Karagwe District Cooperative Union (KDCU) from Lake Victoria region. The results show ambiguous positive impacts. On one hand, better availability of education and medical services, but also different profits from social premium in both unions and criticism of one of the main benefits of Fairtrade - the purchase price, which is too low according to most of the respondents.
